Goodman: New deals and current development projects in Germany In the first five months of 2012, Goodman has agreed contracts for the development of 98,600 sqm of logistics space across Germany. The Group has also delivered new developments totalling over 65,900 sqm to three different customers. There is high demand for space at present, particularly from logistics service providers and e-commerce companies. This is reflected in both the pre-committed developments secured by Goodman to date in 2012 and in the pipeline of active enquiries.
'Logistics companies continue to benefit from the overall robust economic environment in Germany and are also consolidating their businesses into modern new spaces. The e-commerce industry continues to grow rapidly and there is an increasing need for storage space,' explains Andreas Fleischer, Goodman Regional Director for Germany.
In addition to the two new logistics centres for DB Schenker and Rhenus, Goodman will develop an extension to the existing warehouse leased to Kuehne + Nagel in Langenbach. Another highlight has been the 50,000 sqm extension of the 78,000 sqm logistics centre for Zalando in Erfurt.
Summary: Newly agreed development projects since 1 January 2012
'As a result of our most recent leasing deals, Goodman has now over two million sqm of logistics assets under management in Germany, making us the largest owner of logistics properties in Germany,' Andreas Fleischer adds.
Goodman has successfully completed three development projects which have been handed over to customers. These include logistics centres for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hannover (45,000 sqm) and for tyre manufacturer Starco in Winsen (11,400 sqm). The latter project was completed in only four and a half months.
Construction has also been completed on a facility with a total area of 17,000 sqm in Eppertshausen near Frankfurt, in which Tupperware has leased 9,500 sqm. Goodman constructed the remaining part of the building on a speculative basis, which offers 7,500 sqm of immediately available state-of-the-art storage area as well as 500 sqm office space.
Currently under development
A total of seven projects amounting to 400,000 sqm are currently under development across Germany. This includes two logistics centres for Amazon in Koblenz and Pforzheim, each with an area of approx. 110,000 sqm. The current projects correspond to an investment value of over EUR225 million.About Goodman
